Aviation and Asset Finance

Aviation and Asset Finance

Our Aviation and Asset Finance Group is led by highly experienced partners who provide a fully integrated service on the most complex and multi-jurisdictional aviation deals

We offer a unique multi-disciplinary expertise, working with specialists in our Taxation, Corporate and M&A, Banking and Capital Markets, Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Restructuring and Insolvency teams.

Our broad client base comprises airlines, lessors and financiers.  We are trusted legal advisers to our clients on aviation legal issues covering transactional, regulatory, enforcement, insolvency, and litigation matters associated with their operations.

We act for lessors, lessees and financiers on financing structures across a range of asset classes, including narrow and wide-body aircraft and helicopters. We advise on platform creation and on asset-specific transactions.

Our litigation team has a strong track record of advising on the arrest of aircraft and ships, and on advising insurers on aircraft- and aviation-related claims. Our lawyers have an acknowledged expertise in Montreal Convention and all EU Regulations on delays, cancellation and denied boarding. The firm has advised insurers on a number of large losses in Ireland and advised clients on Air Accident Investigation Unit investigations.

We apply our long-standing strengths in tax-based structuring and cross-border aviation financing to serve clients engaged in the growing field of non-traditional aviation financing. We have significant experience of advising on the use of “Section 110” companies to own and/or lease aircraft assets and advising on traditional aviation trading qualifying for the low rate of corporation tax of 12.5%. We advise on Cape Town Convention issues and aviation regulatory matters.
